Glidescope indicator missing in GPS mode during approach

Recommended Posts

I notice that the glidescope indicator is missing in GPS mode during approach for TDM 850, but when compared to Phenom 100, the glidescope indicator is displayed at the PFD. Both TDM 850 and Phenom 100 use the same Garmin G1000 PFD. Any reason for the missing glidescope indicator?

Here are the links.

But really "Are they the same" :)?

Carenado has many shortcomings and as seen by this community (especially Bert for his time and Mods to these)....

Now -- From a "real world" interpretation you should have NO GS Bar visible unless you have an Active GS and have the correct settings configured...

So let's start with an "ILS" -- You would need to have the ILS Feq dialled up in the Active NAV not the Standby.  And you would also need to have your CDI set to that NAV Radio that you have it loaded into....So either NAV 1 or NAV 2.  In both Images you are tracking the GPS CDI.

Next LPV -- Now we have our "GPS" Approach ability that mimics an ILS but using the GPS Data to create the GS for us.  Again you are going to need to have the Approach loaded into the GPS - the Approach needs to be an LPV (though an LNAV+V might supply the data but is supposed to be "advisory") and you would need to have your AP in APR Mode.....Looking at your Current Config it shows that you are in NAV Mode and not in APR mode....

I also can not go and fly this to confirm the results in the Sim since I have replaced the Crappy Fake G1000 with Bert's awesome GTN750 Mod.

What I don know about the 750 Mod is that any approach I load into the GPS -- LPV / LNAV+V or even the "Visual" will give deviation guidance and when in APR mode will take the plane down the GS.

Looking at your Second Pic:

I see your GPS is in an ENROUTE Phase and also with no Approach loaded I don't see why you would get anything ever....Though again that could be a mistake with the Phenom which I have not touched in a long time (but also it has Bert's Mod on it as well)....Also my Phenom is the 300 not sure what yours is.

Now further.....There was the NaviGraph add on for the phenom that I bough and then threw in the trash!!!  It caused no end of problems that Carenado did not care to address and make right.....Sure it had Departures, Arrivals but it did not work correctly and if you tried to load those items out of order or replace an Arrival or approach it went stupid.....Again dropping down to the "Stock" Garmin 1000 and adding Bert's 750 Mod made thing much much better.  I am sure if one day Reality XP were to release a G1000 Trainer.  Then all of these would get an impressive boost 🙂

However once they do release the G500/G600 Trainer I would be on the "Modwagon" for sure with those!

For Boeing, during ILS landing, I notice many pilots in YouTube tutorials activate CMD B at co pilot side, but didn't explain the reason. Why CMD B but not CMD A?

You engage both autopilots for redundancy purpose on categories 2 and 3 approaches.

In short terms, the idea is that the lower you want to go (in term of minimum), the more stringent the requirements are on your equipment (and accidentally on the ILS ground installation and the crew qualification). So if you loose one autopilot, the other one will take over.

Thanks for the clarification.
