Canenado DA62: explain how to capture a target altitude?

Recommended Posts

I finally got my FSX back working without major issues again. Different story that I will not go into now other than to say I am still buying time until building a new system around MSFS 2020. So no P3D as of yet.

I have the Carenado DA62 and the mods for GTN 750 installed, RXP.  I believe there was a mod 1 and then a mod 2.

I had not flown this DA62 for over six months.  I tried for over an hour today during a "refresher" flight to establish and then capture a target altitude with the AP.  Never could.  I am an experienced pilot and a highly experience sim pilot and have never hit this kind of AP ALT wall.  I will not attempt to explain the iterations of setting an altitude, then attempting to use VS or Flight Level Change.  I was never able to climb or descend to capture a target altitude.  Every time I passed through the altitude without capture.  At times I was able to establish a VS rate.  At other times i could not.  No idea why could vs could not.  Similar results with FLC (flight level change) which tooltips as speed.  Was only able to see it accept input perhaps twice out of ten or more attempts.  No idea why sometimes successful, other times unsuccessful.  When I say successful I  mean I was able to make a selection with the button.  Not that I was able to define a parameter that ultimately resulted in capturing a target altitude.

Any help would be appreciated.  It's a sexy aircraft with good twin performance, especially economy.  But it has to fire on all cylinders if you understand what I mean by that.

The latest version of the mod (V4) has an enhanced AP function which will solve this problem. PM me for details.
